Dr. PK Sahu is presently working with Steel Authority of India Limited, Rourkela Steel Plant and has been part of many innovative HR initiatives that have been introduced in this largest steel producer in India – A Maharatna PSU.
With qualifications in Engineering & Management and 21 years of rich experience in the field of HR in SAIL, RSP, he has received many commendations from various organizations at state/National level including “Rashtriya Gaurav” for excellence in management. Dr Sahu has also been awarded The Shyamabandhoo Mishra Gold Medal for excellence in HR by NIPM (Utkal Chapter) for his over all contribution to HR profession.
Dr Sahu is associated closely with National Institute of Personnel Management and he is Immediate past Regional Vice President (Central) of NIPM’s National Council 2010-12. He has remained its Hony.Treasurer for the terms 2004-06 and 2006-08
He is, at present, Organising Secretary of NIPM National Award for Best HR Practices which is instituted for the first time by NIPM under initiatives from Dr Sahu. The winner of 2008 edition of this nationwide competition was Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and runners ups were Steel Authority of India Limited and BOSCH Ltd. The Winner & runner-up companies of second i.e 2009 edition of the competition are Bharat Forge Ltd & Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Tata Steel Ltd.The Winners of NIPM Gold & NIPM Silver trophies of 3rd edition are Hindalco Industries Ltd (Renukoot) and ONGC Ltd and 4th edition winners are IFFCO & HPCL. and 5th edition are BPCL & ONGC in category-A and JK Laxmi Cement & Bharatiya Navikiya Vidyut Nigam Ltd(BHAVINI) in category-B.The trophies of the competition are handed over by Chief Guests during Inaugural sessions of Annual National Conference of NIPM.
Dr Sahu is recognised as Research Guide for Ph.D works under Utkal University, Sambalpur University, Odisha and GITAM University, Andhra Pradesh, AIMA-AMU university. Dr Sahu was invited to International HR conference 2012 organised by IPM, Srilanka at Colombo during last week of June’2012, on exchange programme.
As a thinker he has exhibited his professionalism in very many articles published in the management journals of national level including “Personnel Today”, in Editorial Board of which Dr. Sahu is a Member. He has been invited speaker to many seminars, conferences and chaired sessions. He is a certified Lead Auditor for SA 8000. He is trained on case study teaching & writing by international professionals.
A proponent of ethics & values in management, Dr Sahu is an effective organizer of various symposiums, events and he has endeavored to spread the importance of HR through various seminars, workshops, National level conferences for last several years. He believes in collaborative work with educational institutes and other HR professional bodies viz. AIMA, NHRD Network, ISTD of which he is also life member.
